Welcome to RETHM.in

RETHM The Renewable Energy Group of Thiruvananthapuram is resolved to bring new technologies and solutions in the field of waste management and renewable energy . We have identified technologies suitable for our city's waste management and are planning to implement the pilot project. To enable technology transfer, we are proposing to form a Private Limited company. We invite those who are passionate about this cause to join us in our journey towards creating a sustainable solid waste management solution for the city of Trivandrum.
RETHM as a company will have interest in developing many other technologies in the pursual of the vision to bring technology to the development of the country .
It is starting with the Anaerobic digestion technology for Biowaste conversion to biogas -in collaboration with UF/IFAS ABE
This technology was developed at ABE by Professor David Chynoweth called SEBAC, which stands for SEquential Batch Anaerobic Composting, a patented process.
Plastic waste processing is our next agenda and we need to bring in a technology with the patent rights .
The company should look into the apaches of developing Data analytics, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence based technologies to bring in the necessary advancements in the many areas of waste management .
Company should train persons to engage in the waste processing in the sequential
Our Vision:
To be the leading waste management company in India, promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
Our Mission:
To provide innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions for waste management, leveraging the latest technology and best practices, while ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, and the community.
Anaerobic digestion is a controlled process of microbial decomposition where, under anaerobic conditions, a consortium of microorganisms convert organic matter into methane, carbon dioxide, inorganic nutrients, and humus.
During this microbial process known as biomethanogenesis, microorganisms, including protozoa, fungi, and bacteria decompose organic matter using carbon dioxide and the methyl group of acetate as electron acceptors in the absence of dioxygen or other compounds. This microbial activity is responsible
for carbon recycling in anaerobic environments, including wetlands, rice fields, intestines of animals, aquatic sediments, and manures. The overall process involves a consortium of different species of microorganisms which decompose organic matter in a series of steps that ultimately produce methane and carbon dioxide as terminal products . Methane is formed from two primary substrates, acetate and hydrogen/carbon dioxide (or formate )
Biomethanogenesis is the overall anaerobic biological process that involves several general pathways for decomposition of lignocellulosics and other organic complexes and compounds to methane and carbon dioxide. Several species of microorganisms are involved in the overall reactions, which include depolymerization, fermentative acidogenesis, acetogenesis, acidogenic back reactions, and methanogenesis . A sustained balanced fermentation requires the concerted activities of these organisms for the oxidation of substrates and removal of inhibitory acids, electrons, and hydrogen in the form of methane. . The principal substrates of methanogenic bacteria are acetate and hydrogen/carbon dioxide (or formate).
RETHM will focus in developing technologies starting with a compact anaerobic digestor
